Conditions of Issue

By virtue of Part 3 of Bangkok Mass Transit System Regulations regarding Fare, Ticket and Collection of Fare, Bangkok Mass Transit System Public Company Limited (“Company”) hereby announces the Conditions of Issue as follows:

1.   Unless context otherwise requires, terms used in this announcement shall have the same interpretation as specified in the Bangkok Mass Transit System Regulations dated 5 December 1999.

2.   The Fare appearing in notices, lists or tables published from time to time by the Company and posted at stations are the Fare for traveling in the System.

3.   Categories of Ticket and Conditions of Ticket Usage

(1)   Single Journey Tickets are available from Ticket Issuing Machine during the period as specified by the Company in the attachment to this announcement or from other sources as specified by the Company.

(2)   Single Journey Ticket is valid for one journey in the System in accordance with the value and distance selected by the Passenger when purchased the Ticket from the automatic Ticket Issuing Machine.

(3)   Single Journey Ticket must be used within the service hours on the date of purchase. Ticket not used during such period will be expired.

(4)   Single Journey Ticket is refundable for the value encoded on the Ticket, which shall be deemed final evidence in the following cases:
the Ticket holder stays outside the Paid Area.
Passenger has entered the Paid Area but intends to leave the Paid Area at the same station within 5 minutes from the time of entering the Paid Area. Passenger must make request for refund at the Ticket Office before leaving the Paid Area.

(5)   Refund under clause (4) shall be performed within the service hours of the Ticket Office, as specified in the attached document, on the issuing date of such Ticket by delivering the unused Ticket to the employee in Ticket Office in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Company.

(6)   In case the value of the Single Journey Ticket is insufficient for the distance traveled, the passenger must pay the fare-difference at the Ticket Office or other area designated by the Company before leaving the Paid Area.

(7)   Passenger, who improperly destroys or damages the Ticket while stays in the Paid Area and unable to pass the Automatic Gate, shall return the damaged Ticket to Employee in order to issue a new Ticket for exiting the Paid Area. The Company reserves the rights to collect administration fee for such replacement.

(8)   Expired Single Journey Ticket cannot be used for traveling in the System or exchange or refund. Expired Ticket must be returned to the Employee.

(1)   Stored Value Tickets can be purchased from or revalued at Ticket Office during period of time as specified by the Company in the attachment to this announcement or from other sources as specified by the Company.

(2)   The first purchase of Stored Value Ticket shall be purchased at the minimum price specified by the Company.

(3)   The Company reserves the rights to collect deposit for Stored Value Ticket. The Deposit shall be deducted from the Ticket value in the amount specified by the Company.

(4)   Value of a Stored Value Ticket will be automatically deducted in accordance with the distance traveled and the remaining value excluding the Deposit will be displayed at a panel on the Automatic Gate when passenger exits the Paid Area. The displayed value shall be final and conclusive evidence of the remaining value of the Stored Value Ticket.

(5)   In case Passenger travels beyond the remaining value of the Stored Value Ticket, the Deposit will be deducted as fare. The remaining value will be displayed in negative amount at the panel on Automatic Gate and if all the deposit is deducted. Deposit will not be refunded upon returning the Stored Value Ticket to the Ticket Office as described in (7) and such Ticket will be invalid for traveling unless value is added at the Ticket Office.

(6)   The value of to be added to the Stored Value Ticket shall be made at the increment amount as specified by the Company.

(7)   Stored Value Ticket can be refunded within 2 years from the date of issue or last revaluation, as the case may be in accordance with the remaining value of a Ticket (which shall be an amount excluding discount or any other benefits at the time of issuing i.e. discount or bonus value added). Passenger will be refunded at the remaining value of a Ticket plus full amount of the deposit provided that the deposit has not been deducted as described in (5). In case deposit has been deducted, Passenger will be refunded only the remaining deposit after the deduction. The remaining value and the deposit of Stored Value Ticket that are more than 2 years old from the date of issue or last revaluation or last used for travel, as the case may be, cannot be refunded or replaced with new Ticket or transferred to other Ticket or exchanged to other value.

(8)   The Company reserves the rights to deduct Surcharge, fee or expenses for administration which Passenger is liable to pay in accordance with the announced conditions from the value of the Stored Value Ticket.

(9)   Passenger, who improperly destroys or damages the Stored Value Ticket while stays in the Paid Area and unable to pass the Automatic Gate, shall return the damaged Ticket to an Employee in order to issue a new Ticket in the same value only if the remaining value of the Ticket can be established. The Company reserves the rights to collect administration fee for replacement of Stored Value Ticket.

(1)   Concession Tickets shall be used to travel on the System at the number of trips and within limited period as specified by the Company in the table attached to this announcement. After the expiry of such period, Ticket is not valid for travel within the System and the remaining value cannot be refunded or exchanged for other value.

(2)   Concession Tickets can be purchased from Ticket Office or from other sources as specified by the Company. Concession Tickets must be registered with the Ticket Office before use.

(3)   Concession Tickets cannot be refunded or exchanged for other value in any case except the Ticket is damaged and cannot be used for traveling in the System. The Company will issue a replacement ticket in the same value only if the remaining value of the damaged ticket can be established. Replacement shall be made at the sole discretion of the Company and in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Company. Articles 8, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, 22, 24, 25, 28 and 29 of Part 3 of the Bangkok Mass Transit System Regulations dated 5 December 1999 regarding Fare, Ticket and Collection of Fare shall be apply to these Announcement mutatis mutandis.

(1)   BTS SKY SmartPass can be purchased from or revalued at Ticket Office during period of time as specified by the Company in the attachment to this announcement or from other sources as specified by the Companny.

(2)   For the first issue of BTS SKY SmartPass, passenger shall purchase at the minimum price including issuing fee as specified in the table attached to this announcement and the issuing fee is not refundable.

(3)   5 year card life starts from date of issue.

(4)   BTS SKY SmartPass must be used within 2 years from date of issue or last refill or last use for travel, as the case may be after which any remaining value and the deposit will be deducted and cannot be used for traveling or refunded.

(5)   The Company will collect deposit for BTS SKY SmartPass. The deposit shall be deducted from the Ticket value in the amount as specified in the table attached to this announcement.

(6)   Value of a BTS SKY SmartPass will be automatically deducted in accordance with the distance traveled and the remaining value excluding the deposit will be displayed at a panel of the Automatic Gate when passenger exits the Paid Area. The displayed value shall be final and conclusive evidence of the remaining value of the BTS SKY SmartPass.

(7)   In case Passenger travels beyond the remaining value of the BTS SKY SmartPass. The deposit will be deducted as fare. The remaining value will be displayed in negative amount at the panel on Automatic Gate and if all the deposit is deducted, deposit will not be refunded upon returning the BTS SKY SmartPass to the Ticket Office as described in (9) and such Ticket will be invalid for traveling unless value is added at the Ticket Office.

(8)   The value of to be added to the unexpired tickets shall be made at the increment amount as specified by the Company.

(9)   The remaining value (excluding issuing fee or discount or any other benefits at the time of issuing i.e. discount or bonus value added) of BTS SKY SmartPass can be refunded within 2 years from the date of issue or last refill or last used for travel, as the case may be. Passenger will be refunded at the remaining value of a Ticket plus full amount of the deposit provided that the deposit has not been deducted as described in (7). In case part of the deposit has been deducted as fare, Passenger will be refunded only the remaining deposit after the deduction. The remaining value and the deposit of BTS SKY SmartPass that are more than 2 years old from the date of issue or last refill or last used for travel, as the case may be, cannot be refunded or replaced with new Ticket or transferred to other Ticket or exchanged to other value.

(10)   The Company reserves the rights to deduct Surcharge, fee or expenses for administration which Passenger is liable to pay in accordance with the announced conditions from the value of the BTS SKY SmartPass

(11)   Passenger, who improperly destroys or damages the BTS SKY SmartPass while stays in the Paid Area and unable to pass the Automatic Gate, shall return the damaged Ticket to an Employee in order to issue a new Ticket in the same value only if the remaining value of the damage Ticket can be established. The replacement of Ticket shall be in accordance with the rules and procedures specified by the Company. The Company reserves the rights to collect administration fee for replacement of BTS SKY SmartPass.

(1)   This ticket can be revalued at Ticket Office during period of time as specified by the Company in the attachment to this announcement or from other sources as specified by the Company.

(2)   5 year card life starts from date of first use for travel.

(3)   The remaining value (excluding issuing fee or discount or any other benefits at the time of issuing i.e. discount, bonus or premium value added) of this ticket can be refunded within 2 years from the date of issue by the System or last refill or last used for travel, as the case may be in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Company. Passenger will be refunded at the remaining value of a Ticket plus full amount of the deposit provided that the deposit has not been deducted as described in (7). In case part of the deposit has been deducted as fare, Passenger will be refunded only the remaining deposit after the deduction. The remaining value and the deposit of this ticket that are more than 2 years old from the date of issue by the System or last refill or last used for travel, as the case may be, cannot be refunded or replaced with new Ticket or transferred to other Ticket or exchanged to other value.

(4)   This ticket must be used within 2 years from date of issue or last refill or last use for travel, as the case may be after which any remaining value and the deposit will be deducted and cannot be used for traveling or refunded.

(5)   The Company will collect deposit for this ticket. The deposit shall be deducted from the Ticket value in the amount as specified in the table attached to this announcement.

(6)   Value of this ticket will be automatically deducted in accordance with the distance traveled and the remaining value excluding the deposit will be displayed at a panel of the Automatic Gate when passenger exits the Paid Area. The displayed value shall be final and conclusive evidence of the remaining value of this ticket.

(7)   In case Passenger travels beyond the remaining value of the Ticket. The deposit will be deducted as fare. The remaining value will be displayed in negative amount at the panel on Automatic Gate and if all the deposit is deducted, such Ticket will be invalid for traveling unless value is added at the Ticket Office.

(8)   The value of to be added to the unexpired tickets shall be made at the increment amount as specified by the Company.

(9)   The Company reserves the rights to deduct Surcharge, fee or expenses for administration which Passenger is liable to pay in accordance with the announced conditions from the value of the BTS SKY SmartPass.

(10)   The use of Be 1st Card is subject to the terms and conditions relating to services agreement of Be 1st Card as specified by Bangkok Bank PCL.

(11)   In case of loss or damaged card, please contact Bangkok Bank PCL.

(1)   This ticket can be revalued at Ticket Office during period of time as specified by the Company in the attachment to this announcement or from other sources as specified by the Company.

(2)   5 year card life starts from date of issue.

(3)   The remaining value (excluding issuing fee or discount or any other benefits at the time of issuing i.e. discount, bonus or premium value added) of this ticket can be refunded within 2 years from the date of issue by the System or last refill or last used for travel, as the case may be in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Company and Bangkok Bank PCL. Passenger will be refunded at the remaining value of a Ticket plus full amount of the deposit provided that the deposit has not been deducted as described in (7). In case part of the deposit has been deducted as fare, Passenger will be refunded only the remaining deposit after the deduction. The remaining value and the deposit of this ticket that are more than 2 years old from the date of issue by the System or last refill or last used for travel, as the case may be, cannot be refunded or replaced with new Ticket or transferred to other Ticket or exchanged to other value.

(4)   This ticket must be used within 2 years from date of issue or last refill or last use for travel, as the case may be after which any remaining value and the deposit will be deducted and cannot be used for traveling or refunded.

(5)   The Company will collect deposit for this ticket. The deposit shall be deducted from the Ticket value in the amount as specified in the table attached to this announcement.

(6)   Value of this ticket will be automatically deducted in accordance with the distance traveled and the remaining value excluding the deposit will be displayed at a panel of the Automatic Gate when passenger exits the Paid Area. The displayed value shall be final and conclusive evidence of the remaining value of this ticket.

(7)   In case Passenger travels beyond the remaining value of the Ticket. The deposit will be deducted as fare. The remaining value will be displayed in negative amount at the panel on Automatic Gate and if all the deposit is deducted, such Ticket will be invalid for traveling unless value is added at the Ticket Office.

(8)   The value of to be added to the unexpired tickets shall be made at the increment amount as specified by the Company.

(9)   The Company reserves the rights to deduct Surcharge, fee or expenses for administration which Passenger is liable to pay in accordance with the announced conditions from the value of the BTS SKY SmartPass.

(10)   The use of Blue Wave Visa Credit Card is subject to the terms and conditions relating to services agreement of Blue Wave Visa Credit Card as specified by Bangkok Bank PCL.

(11)   In case of loss or damaged card, please contact Bangkok Bank PCL.

Co-Branded Rabbit
All types of Rabbit can be subdivided into Adult, Student and Senior. Terms of use for each particular type of Rabbit shall follow the Conditions of Issue, and applicable surcharge for misuse schedule, as attached to the announcement on Conditions of Issue for Rabbit Card.

(2)   Usage for all types of Rabbit shall follow the Conditions of Issue as announced by Bangkok Smartcard System Company Limited.

(3)   Card consists of 3 stored value elements.

  • (3.1)   Stored Value is the remaining value stored on the Rabbit.
    • (3.1.1)   Stored Value can be added to Rabbit at any BTS Ticket Office, during service hours as specified by the Company in the attachment to this announcement, or from other sources as specified by the Company.
    • (3.1.2)   Value on cards will be automatically deducted in accordance with the distance travelled, and any remaining value, excluding deposit, will be displayed on the Automatic Gate when passenger exits Paid Area. The value displayed shall be final and conclusive evidence of the remaining value on the card.
    • (3.1.3)   In the case where remaining travel value on a card is insufficient to cover applicable fare for distance travelled, the remaining value will be displayed as a negative amount. The card will then be invalid for travel, until value is added at a BTS Ticket Office.
    • (3.1.4)   The value to be added to the unexpired cards shall be made in incremental amounts, as specified by the Company.
    • (3.1.5)   The remaining value and card deposit (if applicable) shall follow The Conditions of Issue by Bangkok Smartcard System Company Limited . Any remaining trips cannot be refunded or replaced with new card or transferred to other card or exchanged to other value.
  • (3.2)   Specific Transit Pass’ means stored trips for travel.(Announcement of the Discontinuation of 30-Day Trip Passes starts on 1st October 2021 onwards, Announced on 1st September 2021)
    • (3.2.1)   Trips can be added to a pass at any BTS Ticket Office during service hours as specified by the Company in the attachment to this announcement, or from other sources as specified by the Company.
    • (3.2.2)   Trips must be used for travel within 45 days from date of refill. After which any remaining trips will be deducted and the card invalid for travel, unless refilled at a BTS Ticket Office.
    • (3.2.3)   Valid for maximum number of trips purchased, or for use within 30 days from date of first entry at a BTS Automatic Gate, whichever occurs earlier. Except for travel on BMA Extension Lines. Any remaining trips cannot be refunded or replaced with new card or transferred to other card or exchanged to other value.
    • (3.2.4)   Value added to unexpired cards shall be made in the increment amount as specified by the Company.
    • (3.2.5)   Trips stored on the card are non-refundable.
    • (3.2.6)   Where cards contain both stored value and trips, trips will be deducted first, except for travel in BMA Extension Lines, where stored value only will be deducted.
  • (3.3)   เที่ยวโดยสารร่วม หมายถึง เที่ยวการเดินทางในระบบ ร่วมกับระบบขนส่งอื่นในอนาคต

(4)   The Company reserves the rights to deduct a surcharge, fee or expenses from the value of the card, for any administration costs for which a passenger may be liable to pay, in accordance with the Conditions of Issue as announced by the Company.

(5)   Passengers, who misuse, damage or destroy a card while in the Paid Area and as a result are unable to pass through an Automatic Gate, shall pay the fare as specified by the Company. Where cards have been damaged or destroyed, passenger shall comply with the Conditions of Issue as announced by Bangkok Smartcard System Company Limited.

(1)   This pass is designed for hotel groups, tour operators and conferences and can be purchased from sources as specified by the Company, but not at BTS Stations.

(2)   Passes can be revalued at any BTS Ticket Office during service hours, as specified by the Company in the attachment to this announcement, or from other sources as specified by the Company.

(3)   Initial minimum value on the pass to be purchased, shall be as specified in the table attached to this announcement.

(4)   1 year card life starts from date of issue.

(5)   A BTS Connect SmartPass must be used within 1 year from date of issue, after which any remaining value and deposit will be deducted and cannot be refunded or used for further travel.

(6)   The Company will collect a deposit with purchase of a BTS Connect SmartPass. The deposit shall be deducted from the stored value on the card, in the amount as specified in the table attached to this announcement.

(7)   Stored Value of a BTS Connect SmartPass will be automatically deducted in accordance with applicable fare for distance travelled and any remaining value, excluding deposit, will be displayed on the Automatic Gate when the passenger exits the Paid Area. The displayed value shall be final and conclusive evidence of the remaining travel value on the BTS Connect SmartPass.

(8)   In case remaining travel value on a BTS Connect SmartPass is insufficient to cover applicable fare for distance travelled, the remaining value will be displayed as a negative amount and fare deducted from the deposit. If all of the deposit is deducted, the deposit cannot be refunded upon returning the card to a BTS Ticket Office as described in clause (10) below, and such card will be invalid for further travel unless value is added at a BTS Ticket Office.

(9)   The value of to be added to unexpired cards shall be made in the incremental amounts as specified by the Company.

(10)   The remaining travel value (excluding discount or any other benefits at the time of issuing discount or bonus value added) on a BTS Connect SmartPass can be refunded within one year from the date of issue.Refund will be made of the remaining travel value on a card plus the full amount of the deposit, provided that the deposit has not been deducted as described in clause (8) above. Where part of the deposit has been deducted as fare, only amount of remaining deposit will be refunded. Any remaining travel value and the deposit on a BTS Connect SmartPass which have not been used within one year from date of issue cannot be refunded or replaced with a new card, or transferred to an another card, or exchanged for other value.

(11)   The Company reserves the rights to deduct a surcharge, fee or expenses from the value on a card for the administration costs which a passenger is liable to pay, in accordance with the conditions as announced by the Company.

(12)   Passengers, who misuse, damage or destroy a BTS Connect SmartPass while in the Paid Area and as a result are unable to pass through an Automatic Gate, shall return the damaged cards to an Employee in order to issue a new card with the same value, only where the remaining value of the damaged card can be established.The replacement of a card shall be in accordance with the regulations and procedures as specified by the Company. The Company reserves the rights to collect an administration fee for the issuance of any replacement card.

4.   Each Ticket is valid for one person.

5.   Unless otherwise stated in clause 3.1 (4). Any Passenger entering and leaving the Paid Area of the same station shall pay the fare as specified by the Company.

6.   Any Passenger entering the Paid Area and staying in the Paid Area beyond the time limit as specified in the table attached to this announcement must pay the penalty as being specified.

7.   Any Passenger losses a Ticket in the Paid Area shall pay the Surcharge to the Company before leaving the Paid Area in accordance with rates and procedures specified by the Company.

8.   Entering or leaving the Paid Area will be recorded sequentially in the Ticket and shall be deemed final evidence. A Ticket, recorded entering the Paid Area, shall be recorded leaving the Paid Area in such journey. Passenger who uses a Ticket without following the sequence i.e. recorded only entering the Paid Area, but without recording leaving the Paid Area or vice versa, or uses a Ticket to enter or leave the Paid Area twice in the same period; the Company reserves the rights to collect Surcharge in accordance with the rates and procedures specified by the Company.

9.   A Passenger within the Paid Area or within the System Premises after having immediately gained exit from the Paid Area must produce Ticket for checking, inspection or verification at any time upon demand by Employee. Any Person who contravenes above paragraph shall be regarded as not having paid his Fare and shall be liable to pay a Surcharge.

10.   Legal proceedings may be taken against any person who misuses the Ticket, allow any misuses of the card, or branches any of the Conditions of issue. The Company reserves the rights to confiscate any Ticket deemed necessary for further investigation.

11.   The Company will not guarantee the correctness of Ticket, which was not issued by the Company or by person duly authorized by the Company.

12.   The Company reserves the rights to charge issuing fee and administrative fee for replacement of damaged card

13.   The Company reserves the rights to modify or amend the Conditions of Issue. The Company will from time to time notify such modification or amendment.

14.   The Company will take no responsibility for suspending validity of lost or stolen Ticket, or refunding any remaining trips or value contained.

- Valid for up to maximum purchased trips or use within 30 days from date of first entry at a BTS Automatic Gate, whichever is earlier, except BMA Extension Lines.
- This Ticket can be refilled with trips, as specified by The Company regulations.
- A person who eligible to use is a student whose ages is not over 23 years, (details as per Conditions of use for BTS SkyTrain Student Passes)
- A valid student ID and Citizen ID must be produced upon demand by Company's officer.
- Not exceed 20 times of maximum fare
- Confiscate the Ticket without refunding

3.7 Rabbit for Adult - Cards may only be used by Adults.  
Rabbit for Student - Eligible for use by students aged not over 23 years (details as per Conditions of use for Student Passes), with a valid student ID and Citizen ID which must be produced upon demand by an officer of the Company. - Not exceed 20 times of maximum fare
- Confiscate the Ticket without refunding
Rabbit for Senior - Eligible for use by a Thai senior citizen aged 60 years or over (details as per Conditions of use for Senior Rabbit), with a valid Thai Citizen ID must be produced upon demand by an officer of the Company. - Not exceed 20 times of maximum fare
- Confiscate the Ticket without refunding
